Hometown Plumstead, PA

Located near central Bucks County and about 25 miles north of Philadelphia, Plumstead Township is a small town that retains its rural heritage even as residential developments and new residents are arriving in the area.

A Brief History of Plumstead Township

Settlers first arrived in the Plumstead area in the early 1700s, seeking religious freedom in the new land of opportunity. While the early inhabitants of Plumstead were English Quakers, new residents came from Germany, Ireland, and Scotland, bringing with them diverse ways of life and ideas. 

Plumstead Township was officially established in 1725 as an agricultural community, and transformed into an industrial area with inns, blacksmiths, general stores, and carriage works along the well-used highway from Philadelphia to Easton (the road we know today as Route 611). 

The Town as We Know It Today

Modern-day Plumstead, PA is spread out over nearly 30 square miles and has about 12,500 residents living in the town. Though new residential developments have blossomed out of the area's rocky terrain, you can still find operating farms that have passed through several generations of Plumstead locals. 

The town and its citizens make great efforts to preserve Plumstead's charm, keeping open spaces and maintaining the land for parks and conservation.  

Community Events in Plumstead

Residents have a strong sense of togetherness and community pride, which you can experience through annual events and gatherings. 

During the holidays, you can meet your neighbors and discover the town with your friends at the Annual Tree Lighting ceremony, where there's good old-fashioned fun with warm winter goodies, singing Christmas carols, and meeting Santa and Mrs. Claus when they arrive by firetruck. The Plumstead Easter Egg Hunt takes place in Hanusey Memorial Park and features a visit from the Easter Bunny, an egg hunt for the children, and fun memories for all.

Parks and Outdoor Activities

Plumstead's parks have athletic fields, batting cages, pavilions, winding trails, wooded parkland, and wildlife areas where you can stroll through nature and observe the wildlife. There are five parks in the town: Allohaken Park, Hanusey Community Park, Schweitzer Park, Landis Park, and Owls Nest Park. These are great places to enjoy the quiet life with your friends and family.
